As people drive on to this property, we are often asked how in the world did we find this place?
“God led us here!” Is the only answer!
This property shows off God’s goodness to us. May He be glorified in everything we say and do!
God placed this desire in my, Faith’s, heart over 12 years ago as I was pondering what my ideal ministry would be. I dreamed of a place to offer respite to missionaries in particular, but anyone truly. A place of beauty, peace, safe conversations in which to explore God’s leading in lives. This dream has been in the back of my head and heart ever since. Honestly we didn’t think it would come to fruition so soon upon return to Kenya. That is humanly speaking. But God…
God spoke to me (Faith) as we were leaving Kenya in 2019. I had climbed our treehouse to enjoy the sunset over Longonot from our backyard. As those of you who have seen the view and experienced sunsets over Longonot know, it is spectacular and it is something I was taking the time to do as we left Kenya. We built the treehouse to be able to see the view. It is a great view!
The sunset was glorious! I could see the stars starting to shine! I could see lightning happening just beyond Longonot. It was glorious!
(A picture of the view from tree house that night)
And in that moment God spoke to me twice saying the same thing.
“This is a seasonal goodbye to this view. A permanent goodbye to your house.”
This resonated deep within me. It felt right, and good, and a special word from God that I have hesitated about sharing as it was a very personal moment.
However this moment plays into where we are living now, and is our story.
December 17, 2021 Rodney and I viewed this property together. As I stood at the top of the property and looked out over the valley I felt God speak to me again. (note: I can count on one hand the number of times God has spoken to me. I do not speak of this lightly.)
God said to me, “Your view of Longonot was so small. Look at the magnitude, vastness, and expansiveness of my goodness towards my children. This is my view for you. Far and wide, above and beyond anything you could ever hope of imagine. This is how much I love you and want good for you.”
That afternoon we had a conversation with the owner of this property and he invited us to live here for the rest of the school year. Rodney and I spent the rest of the day walking around on cloud 9, in awe of the gift God gave us of an answer to prayer of where we would live.
As we’ve lived here we have fallen more in love with this place. The potential for ministering with the gifts and talents God has given us is phenomenal. Friends who have visited us have walked around jaws dropped, marveling at how God works and told us “I hope you feel God is smiling down on you!” We do!
The next step in all of this is to see how God will provide the money to fund this place. The owner would like to sell it. We would like to buy it. Will you pray with us for God’s provision? We have started reCenter as a non-profit to be able to accept tax free donations.
Also, come visit us! In order to fully envision this place you have to see it to believe it. As we say in Kenya…
KARIBU! WELCOME!
You are MOST welcome!
